The August full moon will be celebrated with many museums and Greek archaeological
sites staying open (until midnight) and presenting various events on August 15, all over Greece.
The events in some sites and museums start from August 11th until August 19th.
100 events mostly musical concerts will take place in archaeological sites, monuments and museums allover the country. Forty eight Archaeological Sites and Museums will just remain open to the public. You can download the full program here (excel file):
In Athens, the Acropolis Museum will be open from 8 a.m. to 12 midnight with free entry
from 8pm onwards, and visitors will be able to enjoy the permanent exhibition galleries
as well as the temporary exhibition ‘Chisel and Memory. The contribution of marble craftsmanship
to the restoration of the Acropolis monuments’.
On the same day it will host a concert in the entrance courtyard:
Exceptional artists and their orchestra will perform beloved songs
by great Greek songwriters and composers.
The second floor restaurant, and the ground floor café, will be open during the same hours
(reservations on +30 210 9000915).
Moreover, on the same day visitors will have the opportunity to participate
in presentations at the archaeological excavation titled ‘Walking in the ancient
neighborhood of the Acropolis Museum’, as follows:
English: 12 noon & 5 p.m.
Greek: 1 p.m. & 7 p.m.
Duration: 45 minutes
Participation: Limited to 20 visitors per session.
